Oman has officially extended the validity of expatriate residency cards from three to 10 years, marking a significant shift in the country’s residency regulations. The decision was issued by Lieutenant General Hassan bin Mohsin Al Shuraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs. Under the new rules, residency cards will be valid for up to a decade, with renewals required within 30 days of expiry. Issuance and renewal fees are set at five Omani rials (Dh47.75) per year, while replacing lost or damaged cards will cost 20 rials (Dh191). Previously, residency cards were only valid for one to three years. The change aims to simplify administrative procedures and enhance convenience for expatriates. ICA/Expat Media
