A viral video from 2018 has once again captured global attention as conflicts continue in the Middle East and eastern Europe. The video, titled One Day, brought together more than 3,000 people of diverse faiths—Muslims, Jews, Christians, Hindus, and others—for a powerful, collective message of peace and tolerance through music. Organized by Koolulam, a social music initiative, the event took place on February 14, 2018, in Israel’s multicultural city of Haifa. Attendees were strangers from different religious backgrounds and nationalities who gathered with one mission: to sing together and celebrate peaceful coexistence. The participants learned the lyrics and harmonies of the song “One Day,” originally written and performed by American artist Matisyahu, within an hour. The rendition was arranged by Yaron Eigenstein and performed in three languages—English, Arabic, and Hebrew—as a testament to unity through shared experience. Koolulam’s mission is to bring people together through music, creating brief but impactful moments of communal harmony. The video has resurfaced across social media, striking a poignant chord amid ongoing global conflicts such as the Israel-Iran tensions and the Russia-Ukraine war, where calls for peace feel more urgent than ever. “The idea is simple but profound—people who are different can stand together, sing together, and dream together,” Koolulam said in a statement about the event in 2018. The original One Day lyrics resonate deeply in today’s fractured world: “All my life I’ve been waiting for, I’ve been praying for, for the people to say that we don’t wanna fight no more. There’ll be no more wars, and our children will play. One day.” As the video continues to go viral again in 2025, it serves as a hopeful reminder of what’s possible when humanity chooses unity over division. ICA/Expat Media
