A car accident on Dubai's Hatta-Lahbab Road led to the death of one student and injured 11 others on Tuesday (August 27), according to Dubai Police. The car carrying the students swerved, crashed into an iron barrier, and flipped over, landing in a sandy area beside the highway. Police did not give details about the victims' identities but said that the injured students were brought to the hospital. According to Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Acting Commandant Assistant for Operations Affairs, initial investigations suggest that the accident was caused by speeding, negligence, and the driver's lack of attention. Police also noted that the number of passengers exceeded the car's limit. Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, acting commander-in-chief of Dubai Police, advised parents to make sure their children are transported safely to and from school. He also reminded motorists to refrain from violating a car's passenger limit. Violating a passenger limit is a serious offence in UAE. FLE/Expat Media
