Venus Williams defeats the 2017 French Open women's champion in 2 sets

  LONDON – Venus Williams is making sure not to let the legal woes she's facing over involvement in a fatal car crash last month from affecting her as she plays at Wimbledon. This as the 37-year-old five-time Wimbledon champion beat 2017 French Open women's titleholder Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia on Tuesday in two sets 6-3, 7-5. Ostapenko, with an 11-match winning streak at the Grand Slams, tried all that he could in their Centre Court match to get past Williams but failed.
