Abu Dhabi cracks down on overcrowded apartments, villas
Overcrowding in Abu Dhabi apartments or villas will be subject to a fine of up to Dh50,000, the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi (DMT) confirmed. According to DMT, it is considered a violation of the emirate’s real estate laws and that the fine for first-time violators is Dh25,000, and Dh50,000 for repeat violators. Inspectors have been dispatched to monitor violators at the start of the year, according to DMT. The authority called on the public to report cases of overcrowding to the Abu Dhabi Government through the hotline 800555.
