Dubai was ablaze with color and culture as over 10,000 people gathered at the Dubai World Trade Centre on Sunday (August 11) to celebrate Pakistan's 77th Independence Day. Pakistan observes its Independence Day on August 14, but in Dubai, the event was celebrated in advance to coincide with the weekend. The event, titled “Emirates Loves Pakistan,” was organized by the UAE Government Media Office in collaboration with the Pakistan Association Dubai, Dubai Police, and other key partners. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, attended the celebration, along with Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE, and several other dignitaries. The event featured a variety of cultural performances, including traditional Pakistani music and dance, as well as exhibitions of handcrafted goods. In his speech, Sheikh Nahyan highlighted the deep ties between the UAE and Pakistan, emphasizing the importance of their shared values and commitment to fostering peace and progress. "We are proud to stand with our Pakistani brothers and sisters on this momentous occasion, celebrating the rich history and future potential of our nations," Sheikh Nahyan said. "Our cultural, political, commercial, and people-to-people linkages are deeply rooted in shared values and beliefs, providing a strong foundation for our close relations," said Sheikh Nahyan. "We are proud to join the people of Pakistan in offering hope and optimism for the future of our countries, our region, and the world." Alia Al Hammadi, Deputy Chairperson of the UAE Government Media Office, echoed these sentiments, noting the strong partnership between the UAE and Pakistan. She emphasized the UAE's role in supporting Pakistan's development through various initiatives and projects, reflecting the enduring bond between the two countries. The celebration was a vibrant showcase of Pakistan's rich cultural diversity, featuring traditional music, dance performances, and exhibitions of Pakistani handicrafts. The event also honored the significant contributions of the Pakistani community to the UAE’s development, underscoring their role in the nation's sustainable growth. The event was not just a celebration of Pakistan's independence but also a tribute to the vibrant Pakistani community in the UAE, whose contributions have significantly shaped the nation's growth and development. From the arts to commerce, the event showcased the multifaceted impact of Pakistanis in the UAE, solidifying their place in the fabric of Emirati society. In a special ceremony, Sheikh Nahyan honored several distinguished Pakistani individuals for their significant contributions across various fields. Among the honorees was cricket legend Shahid Afridi, Dr. Faisel Ikram, President of the Pakistan Association Dubai and other Pakistani businessmen, including Careem co-founder Mudassir Sheikha and Chef Chaudary Abdul Hameed, founder of the renowned Ravi Restaurant.
