Clips of chaos outside outlets of Zark's Burger in malls posted on social media

  MANILA – Hundreds of people made a mad rush to outlets of a local food joint in malls in Manila on Monday to avail of an eight-peso burger promo. Netizens posted clips showing pandemonium and chaos outside outlets of Zark's Burger as people pushed their way into the store so they can be among the 80 lucky customers who can have a burger for only eight pesos (15 US cents) as part of Zark's eighth anniversary celebration. A Zark's ultimate burger normally costs 148 pesos or US$2.89. The anniversary promo happened on a national holiday when the Philippines commemorated National Heroes Day. Even before SM Malls in Bacoor, Cavite and in San Mateo, Rizal opened, hundreds of people were already waiting outside. When the mall's doors were opened, all of them ran towards the burger outlets. In a video taken by Sacen Sacay of the chaos at SM Bacoor that she posted on Facebook, a woman was heard commenting about the frenzy, saying "Para sa Zark's! (For Zark's!). At SM San Mateo, Pauline Cabal Estrada took a clip of the chaos outside the Zark's Burger outlet in the mall and posted it on Facebook as well. She likened the chaotic scene to an attack by "white walkers" of the HBO hit series "Game of Thrones". At SM North Edsa mall, security guards were called in to maintain order outside the Zark's outlet. Zark's Burger, for its part, issued a statement in its official Facebook account that expressed gratitude for the "mammoth response" to its anniversary promo and apologized for the inconvenience as a result of the incident.
