Filipino acoustic sensation Paolo Santos is set to bring a night of pure nostalgia to Dubai as he performs live with the Paolo Santos Trio this December. The Paolo Santos Trio will hit the stage on December 20 at RT Restobar in Grand Central Hotel, Al Rigga. The show begins at 8pm, with tickets starting at Dh145. Santos will be joined by Joel Guarin on bass and vocals, and Stanley Seludo on drums and vocals—completing the Paolo Santos Trio in what promises to be a warm, intimate, and nostalgic evening for fans of classic Filipino acoustic music. Santos—known for his warm vocals and clean, melodic guitar lines—remains one of the Philippines’ most recognized acoustic performers. His musical style was shaped heavily by legendary American singer James Taylor, whom Santos describes as “one of the greatest artists ever to hit the music scene.” The singer rose to fame with the runaway hit “Moonlight Over Paris,” a song he credits as the spark that jumpstarted his career. “This song started the whole fiasco,” Santos says with a chuckle, recalling how the track turned him from an aspiring musician into a household name in the early 2000s. Another major breakthrough came with “Getting Close,” the memorable jingle for a Close Up television commercial that became a national earworm. Featuring the lines “nothing can come between us, nothing can separate us,” the tune cemented Santos as one of the era’s defining voices. Soon after, he released his debut album “Play With Me,” which featured both “Moonlight Over Paris” and “Getting Close.” The toothpaste brand later tapped him to write and perform an original version of the now-iconic jingle. Santos credits the song and its reception for elevating his career. “‘Getting Close’ opened a lot of doors for me… This was truly my claim to fame,” he admits.
