  DUBAI – Police have questioned the parents of a six-year-old Arab boy for allegedly torturing the lad. This after the school where the boy is studying informed the police that the kid was allegedly being tortured by his parents "for being naughty" and also allegedly starved as punishment. The boy's parents however denied the accusations against them. Brig. Dr. Mohammad Al Murr, director of the Dubai Police Human Rights Department, said the school "noticed signs of violence on the body of the pupil and signs of burns on his foot". Al Murr said the school's report prompted them to investigate the matter and they summoned the boy and his parents. Reports said the Women and Children section of the police's Human Rights Department spoke with the boy, who claimed that he was being physically assaulted, tied up and starved by his parents. Al Murr said the parents denied torturing their son. He also quoted the mother as saying that she sometimes "uses force to discipline him because he is a hyperactive kid and always tells others about what happens inside the house". Al Murr said further that the mother denied starving her son and that she only prevents him from over-eating. Meanwhile, the case has been referred to Dubai Public Prosecution for further investigation and the police sent a report to the Community Development Institute to monitor the parents. Al Murr said they had the parents sign a document stating that they won't hurt the boy anymore until a court decision is handed down, adding that a police team is coordinating with the school to check the condition of the boy.
