Ras Al Khaimah Police has issued a strong warning to parents about the rising risks of blackmail in online gaming. Authorities highlighted that children interacting with cybercriminals posing as fellow gamers could face emotional harm and exploitation. Colonel Hamad Abdullah Al Awadi, director of the Media and Public Relations Department, urged families to educate children about the dangers. “Cybercriminals lure children with false promises of rewards, often exploiting them in ways that can ruin their lives,” he said. The UAE Cyber Security Council listed five red flags, including sudden withdrawal, changes in device usage, and emotional distress, to help parents identify cyberbullying victims. Parents were advised to maintain open communication and monitor children’s online activities. Cybersecurity tips include avoiding suspicious links, reporting incidents, and keeping evidence of blackmail.
