Pray on the roads and get fined Dh500, says Dubai Police

DUBAI - Parking your car on the roadside to pray will attract a fine of Dh500, the Dubai Police has warned. The warning came after a motorist rammed into a crowd of people praying the Maghrib on the roadside of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road that killed two people and injured six others on Saturday. The Asian motorist was driving at high speed when the tyre of his four-wheel-drive burst, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and ram into people praying on the roadside. “Side of the road is not a proper place to offer prayers and it can endanger lives of worshippers,” Major General Mohammad Saif Al Zafein, head of Federal Traffic Council, said in a tweet. The Dubai Police said that vehicles, particularly buses, can be impounded if drivers repeatedly stop on the roadside for prayers.
