Narvasa wants improved competitiveness of all of the league's teams

  MANILA - Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) fans can expect competitive teams playing in the league and even make the annual All-Star game into a regional competition features the best teams from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. PBA commissioner Chito Narvasa revealed the league's big plans in an interview with The Philippine Star as he expressed hope of attracting more millennials to the games. "I want the league to be more competitive in all aspects. The games should not be predictable, not like here on can easilyt pick who will win at the end of the day. Every game should count," he said. Narvasa said if the PBA teams become more competitive and officiating is improved, it will result in more exciting games, which will attract more fans, notably the millennials. However, Narvasa is not worried about attendance in the games as it is higher this time compared to the previous season. Narvasa said further that more competitive PBA teams would make it easier to lend players to the Gilas Pilipinas, the national basketball team that competes in international tournaments, because the PBA teams would not suffer performance-wise while a player of theirs is competing for Gilas. Narvas's other plans for the PBA this year are: * Continued expansion of the PBA Developmental League (D-League) * Convert the All-Star game into a regional competition of the best teams from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao (the Philippines' three geographical regions). * Creation of a PBA Filipino-American team.
