Both players have played in the league for almost two decades

  MANILA - Filipino-American Tony Dela Cruz and Cebuano hotshot Dondon Hontiveros have bowed out of the PBA after the two played their last game on Wednesday. Dela Cruz, 39, and Hontiveros, 40, said they will always look back at memories of playing in the PBA. Both played for the Alaska Aces. Hontiveros was considered as one of the prolific shooters of the PBA and landed fourth in the list of all-time career three-pointers made behind Jimmy Alapag, Allan Caidic and Ronnie Magsanoc. He joined the PBA in 2000 as a direct hire by Tanduay and went on to suit up for San Miguel, Air 21 and lastly with Alaska. Speaking in Filipino, Hontiveros said: "I learned so many things. Coach Alex (Compton) told us in the locker room that even if we leave, the relationship is still there." "This is a great group of guys to be with and I've learned so much from them, in fact I think I've learned more from them than them learning from me because I really enjoyed our company and I'm very grateful for that." Dela Cruz, on the other hand, joined the league in 1999 and spent his first six years in the now-defunct Shell before suiting up for Alaska. He won three PBA titles and earned four PBA All-Star nods. Both Hontiveros and Dela Cruz were members of the national team that competed abroad. Dela Cruz said: "I'm super, super proud of the career I had." "Obviously, I didn't have the accolades, the trophies, the championships that I wish I had, but I got to meet some really great people, played against awesome opponents, imports, played for great coaches, and played in the best league in Asia."
