Philippines: PBBM urges Filipinos to give Maharlika bill a chance

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. expressed his support for the Maharlika Wealth Fund (MWF), stating that the controversial idea will help the nation through the additional investments it will bring. "For sure, I wouldn't have brought it up otherwise. It's very clear that we need added investment. This is another way to get that," Marcos Jr. said. The administration's economic managers, including Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Felipe Medalla, Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, and Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno, strongly support the MWF, claims that the fund will expedite the government's efforts to achieve inclusive and sustainable economic growth. Among the direct benefits they cited are increased investments in and funding of big-ticket infrastructure projects through Marcos' "Build Better More" initiative, high-return green and blue projects, and countryside development. Future generations are also projected to have greater access to income from investments, including potential profits from natural resources.
