The Philippine Business Council – Dubai and Northern Emirates (PBC-DNE) has expanded its organisational structure with the launch of two new sub-committees, aimed at strengthening collaboration and support for Filipino entrepreneurs across key industries in the UAE. The announcement was made on Wednesday (January 7), marking a new chapter for the council as it responds to the growing diversity of Filipino-led businesses in Dubai and the northern emirates. Under the leadership of PBC-DNE Chairman Asiyah Monjardin and Vice-Chairman Michael da Costa, the initiative is designed to encourage cooperation, while giving sector-specific groups a stronger voice within the business community. The newly formed committees focus on industries where Filipinos have a strong and growing presence, particularly retail, trade, tourism, and hospitality. An oath-taking ceremony followed the election of officers, reinforcing the council’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and compliance. Harold Grecia Orona, PBC-DNE Director for Compliance and Governance, also led a briefing on adherence to bylaws set by Dubai Chambers. “It is always a great achievement when we create initiatives ‘by the members, for the members,’” said Mariben Christine Eustaquio, Director for Business Events of PBC-DNE. “These sub-committees provide a vital platform for our members in retail, e-commerce, and tourism to synergize their efforts and achieve collective success.” PBC-DNE said the committees are expected to act as catalysts for innovation, professional development, and stronger networks to help Filipino entrepreneurs thrive while contributing meaningfully to the UAE’s business landscape.
