A LATAM Airlines plane taking off from Lima's airport hit a firetruck and caught fire on Friday. The plane's passengers and crew were safe, but two firefighters in the truck were killed. Lima Airport Partners tweeted that operations had been temporarily suspended. Airbus A320neo carried 102 passengers and six crew. "Our teams are providing the necessary care to all passengers, who are in good condition," the company said. Two firefighters were killed, and one was injured after their truck was hit by the plane, said fire department chief Luis Ponce La Jara. The president tweeted condolences to the firefighters' families. LATAM Airlines said it lamented the death of the firefighters and would provide flexibility to affected passengers at no extra cost. But it said it did not know why the firetruck was on the runway. Four rescue teams were dispatched after the fire was reported at 3:25 pm. BKM/ Expat Media
