Pervez Musharraf’s remains to be repatriated from UAE to Pakistan

The remains of Pervez Musharraf, Pakistan’s former president, is expected to be repatriated from the UAE to Pakistan on Monday (February 6). Senior officials told media that Musharraf will be buried in Pakistan later on Monday. Musharraf died in Dubai on Sunday after long illness. He was 79. The former military ruler, who led his country between 2001 and 2008, fled Pakistan in 2016 for medical treatment in the UAE. In June last year, his family said in a statement that he was admitted to American Hospital in Dubai. He was battling a rare disease called amyloidosis. He had been residing in the UAE for a long time, even before he became bedridden due to his disease. His family had said that Musharraf was “going through a difficult stage where recovery is not possible and organs are malfunctioning”.
