Iloilo City’s best practices, including its "super bread", will be featured during the World Governments Summit in Dubai, which runs from February 12 to 14. Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas will join the summit in the Round Table of Mayors on February 14 to share the city government’s nutrition initiative that provides free bread called e-nutribun. Iloilo City's e-nutribun is considered an improvement to the already fortified nutribun bread that the Philippines used in its feeding program to tackle child hunger. Iloilo worked with scientists and nutritionists to make its e-nutribun rich in protein, iron and Vitamin A, addressing both hunger and malnutrition. The original nutribun was developed by USAID Nutrition as part of the US Food for Peace program to  tackle hunger and malnutrition in the Philippines. It was launched in the 1970s and designed as a convenient “ready-to-eat complete meal” for public elementary school feeding programs in the country. Treñas is also expected to share details about Iloilo City’s free dialysis for indigent patients,  as well as its tree park and the rehabilitation of markets and plazas that aid in mental health. The Philippine official said the summit is a venue for learning from others and networking, hoping he could bring additional programs to the city. ICA/Expat Media
