The Philippine Consulate General Dubai has issued a strong warning against individuals and groups falsely offering repatriation assistance in exchange for money. In an advisory released on Thursday (April 9), the consulate urged Filipinos and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) to avoid dealing with unauthorised agents posing as government representatives. “Do not make any payment, do not share personal information, and do not transact with unauthorized parties,” the consulate said. It also emphasised that no official personnel from the consulate or Migrant Workers Office will contact individuals to offer paid repatriation services. “No staff from the Consulate General or Migrant Workers Office will contact you as an agent offering repatriation on behalf of the Philippine government in exchange for money,” the advisory said. Authorities clarified that Filipinos may return home using tickets they personally purchased, but this is separate from government-organised repatriation programmes. A similar warning was earlier issued by the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, which reiterated that repatriation assistance provided by the government is free of charge. Officials warned that any person or group found misrepresenting themselves or collecting illegal fees may face legal action. Residents were urged to rely only on verified government channels when seeking assistance.
