Philippine government promises to be more ‘responsive’ to Filipinos’ needs

Filipinos have been reassured by the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) that the administration will be more "responsive" to their needs. As part of attempts to promote citizen involvement, press secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles stated that the OPS would also invite feedback from the public rather than just disseminating information on policies, programs, activities, and achievements. “Hindi lang po kami nagde-disseminate ng impormasyon. Bahagi po ng ating mandato ay makinig (We do not just disseminate information. Part of our mandate is to listen),” Cruz-Angeles said. She stated that the government is also keeping an eye on social media sites to get immediate responses from netizens. Cruz-Angeles said feedback delivered via the postal system would also be accepted. She added that the OPS is working toward its goal of putting the communication units of Executive Branch agencies at the forefront of information dissemination. By streamlining the information process, her agency is working to “reduce disinformation, misinformation, and mal-information." According to Executive Order 2, the now-defunct Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) and its associated agencies are reorganized and replaced by the OPS.
