Thousands of overseas Filipinos are expected to gather at the Dubai World Trade Centre on June 13 as the Filipino Social Club stages one of the UAE’s largest Philippine Independence Day celebrations. The whole-day event will take place at Sheikh Saeed Hall 1 from 8am to 11pm, with free admission for the public. Organisers described this year’s celebration as “bigger, grander and happier” as Filipino groups, schools, churches and companies from across the UAE unite for a day of cultural pride, entertainment and community activities. Among the highlights is the Community Unity Parade 2026, which invites Filipino organisations across the country to participate in a large-scale gathering celebrating Filipino identity overseas. The event will feature a wide variety of activities, performances and competitions, including: • Larong Pinoy traditional games • Philippine Chorale Festival • MathIIEEnik quiz competition • Tula at Pinta live art and poetry contest • Filipino Schools Drum and Lyre Parade • Philippine Festival Queen Competition • Robotics and innovation displays • Kids Barong and Filipiniana fashion show • Pinoy Street Bazaar • Kalayaan Bike Show • Football and bowling tournaments • Free medical check-ups Organisers said the event aims to promote Filipino creativity, cultural pride and artistic expression among the Filipino community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. Concerts, food stalls, regional delicacy showcases and community performances are also expected to transform the venue into a large Filipino-themed festival celebrating Philippine Independence Day. Several month-long activities tied to the Independence Day celebrations are also expected across the UAE, including gala nights, church thanksgiving masses, mall activations and community recognition events. Philippine Independence Day is officially observed every June 12 to commemorate the country’s declaration of independence from Spanish colonial rule in 1898.
