Philippine President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is scheduled for a one-day working visit to the UAE on November 26, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) announced on Saturday (November 23). The President’s visit will be a significant diplomatic event for both nations, as it promises to solidify the longstanding ties between the Philippines and the UAE. According to the PCO, the visit’s purpose is high-stakes, with the potential to generate substantial goodwill and mutual opportunities. The meeting with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi is expected to pave the way for new agreements and collaboration between the two countries. “While the President's visit will be short, the goodwill and opportunities it will create will be substantial, resulting in stronger Philippine-UAE relations,” according to PCO. The two leaders will discuss a variety of topics, including economic cooperation, trade, and the well-being of the Filipino workforce in the UAE. Marcos is also expected to express his gratitude to the UAE government for their continued support of the Filipino community, particularly acknowledging the country’s efforts in creating a favorable environment for Filipino workers. Marcos had previously communicated with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed over the phone in October, where the UAE president extended condolences following the series of typhoons that hit the Philippines and discussed ways to further enhance bilateral relations. The PCO clarified that Marcos' delegation would be minimal, emphasizing the priority given to the Philippines' post-typhoon recovery efforts. The President will resume his oversight of the country’s relief and reconstruction activities, which have been a critical focus after six consecutive typhoons devastated communities in recent months. The visit marks a milestone in the Philippines-UAE diplomatic relationship, underlining both nations' commitment to mutual prosperity.
