Pieces of gold jewellery weighing 24 kilos were found hidden inside the toilet of an airplane that arrived in the Philippines from Hong Kong, according to the Bureau of Customs (BOC). According to BOC, the gold haul is estimated to be worth at least P80 million (Dh5.1 million). The gold was found by a customs officer conducting routine inspection of Philippine Airline flight PR 301, which arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 on November 17. BOC’s District Collector Carmelita Talusan has ordered a “thorough investigation” of the smuggling attempt and to identify the smuggling suspect. ICA/Expat Media
