Philippine President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. PRESIDENTIAL COMMUNICATIONS OFFICE

Talks about the Philippine leader’s possible visit intensified after Communications Secretary Cheloy Garafil said in a statement that a UAE delegation invited Marcos to attend the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference at Expo City Dubai in December. However, it was not mentioned if Marcos accepted the invitation. UAE delegates visited the Philippines earlier this week to deliver 50 tonnes of food and medicine as aid for victims of the Mayon Volcano, whose volcanic activity has prompted the evacuation of nearly 20,000 residents. Following the donation, UAE Ambassador to the Philippines Mohamed Obaid Salem Alqataam Alzabi paid a courtesy visit to Marcos at the Malacañang Palace on Tuesday where the latter pitched a proposal for the UAE and the Philippines to forge a partnership for sharing information. Marcos ordered a memorandum of understanding to be formalized on the matter. ICA/Expat Media
