The Philippines’ turquoise waters and powdery white sands have once again conquered the world stage. For the eighth time, the country was hailed as Asia’s Leading Beach Destination at the 2025 World Travel Awards (WTA), considered the "Oscars of the travel industry", held on October 13. The country also claimed its seventh consecutive win as Asia’s Leading Dive Destination, affirming the Philippines’ status as a paradise both above and below the sea. “This is more than an award — it’s a celebration of the people,” said Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco. “Our tourism frontliners — the guides, hospitality workers, boatmen, and artisans — are the heart of this industry. Their warmth, hospitality, and resilience inspire travelers worldwide.” The Philippines also earned the title of Asia’s Leading Island Destination and the Department of Tourism (DOT) was recognized as Asia’s Leading Tourist Board, reflecting its commitment to inclusive and sustainable tourism growth. Boracay, known for its luxurious tropical charm, bagged Asia’s Leading Luxury Island Destination, while Clark Freeport Zone was named Asia's Leading Meetings and Conference Destination — further diversifying the country’s tourism offerings. With 7,641 islands to choose from, the Philippines has drawn travelers to its dreamy beaches as well as stunning dive sits. Secretary Frasco emphasized that these awards reaffirm the Philippines’ position among the world’s top travel spots. “We’re not just promoting destinations — we’re empowering communities, sustaining livelihoods, and showcasing the Filipino brand of service with excellence,” she said.
