President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has authorized the continuation of emergency subsidies to assist Filipinos in coping with the effects of inflationary pressures. In a press release, Undersecretary Cheloy Garafil, officer-in-charge of the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS), stated that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. had directed the continuation of support to the most vulnerable sectors in the form of distribution of cash transfers and fuel discounts to help cushion the impact of rising inflation. The announcement followed a report from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) stating that headline inflation in the nation increased to 7.7 percent in October 2022 from 6.9 percent in September of the same year.
