The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced on Tuesday that "Queenie" has weakened to a tropical depression and would continue to move westward over the Philippine Sea east of Mindanao in the next 12 hours. In its 11 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA stated that the tropical depression will continue to weaken and may become a remnant low within 12 hours. According to Pagasa, the center of Queenie is 490 kilometers east of Davao City or 425 kilometers east-southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. Queenie has a maximum sustained winds of 45kph near the center and gustiness of up to 55kph, according to the forecast. Over the next six hours, the weather bureau predicts light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rains over Caraga and Davao Oriental. Due to the weakening scenario, raising storm signals over the eastern portion of Caraga and in some areas in Eastern Visayas is unlikely, PAGASA said. In the next 12 hours, moderate to rough seas may persist along Mindanao's eastern coast due to Queenie. BKM/ Expat Media
