Miss Universe UAE: PBB star Franki in Top30

  DUBAI – Franki Russell, who starred in popular Philippine reality TV series Pinoy Big Brother, has made it to the top 30 finalists of the first Miss Universe UAE pageant. Franki bested 15,000 applicants to make it to the Top 300, which was narrowed down to Top 50, and finally the Top 30 candidates. Franki, who is of Filipino-New Zealander descent, lives in Dubai. She said making it to the Top 30 finalists felt “surreal”. “I feel so grateful and honored to be a part of something so historical – the first ever Miss Universe here in the UAE,” she said. “Thank you to the people who brought this to life and for letting me be a part of this!” “I feel like there’s never been a better time to have a Miss Universe UAE to empower and inspire women from all walks of life,” she added. “I am excited to challenge myself and grow alongside such beautiful women! Let’s do this!” Miss Universe UAE preliminary rounds will take place on November 5 where the Top 15 will be chosen. The coronation night will be held in Dubai on November 7. The winner will represent the UAE in the Miss Universe pageant. It remains to be seen whether or not Franki will take home the crown. The star had addressed fans on her decision to join the pageant. “It may not be the flag you prefer, but I am so excited because this particular pageant represent a lot more than that,” she wrote on Twitter.
