  DUBAI – What appears to be a harmless toy for your child could make them sick, researchers said. A new study has suggested that rubber or plastic toys breed bacteria that can cause sickness and disease to children. In the study, researchers found very high levels of germs and bacteria in the toys, particularly those used in water. Experts said that the hollow parts of these toys are an ideal breeding ground for bacteria like E. coli. The toys may also have fungi such as candida and other moulds because they are in a damp and moist environment. When the bacteria travels into the child’s digestive track, it can cause nausea, vomiting, digestive track infections and diarrhoea, doctors said.
