24-hour police patrols in four emirates this Eid

  DUBAI - The police in four emirates have put in place security and safety measures in anticipation of the huge number of people who will flock to malls, leisure places and tourist spots during the Eid Al Fitr holiday. Police will do 24-hour patrols and there will be a ban on firecrackers to be implemented in at least two municipalities. Sharjah Police traffic and patrol director Maj. Major Mohammad Alai Al Naqbi said traffic personnel will be stationed on roads while police will patrol shopping centers, mosques, squares and parks, tourist areas, and highways. Al Naqbi also said police patrols will also be deployed in residential areas to prevent children from exploding firecrackers while inspections will be made in markets selling firecrackers. A crackdown on firecrackers will also done in Ras Al Khaimah, according to RAK police commander Maj. Gen. Ali Abdullah Alwan Al Nuaimi. Al Nuaimi also said they will increase patrols on highways as a deterrent to traffic accidents. Ajman Police traffic and patrols deputy director Lt. Col. Saif Abdullah Al Falasi said they will conduct patrols around shops, markets, residential areas as well as in commercial and industrial areas. Meanwhile, Fujairah police commander Brig. Mohammad Ahmad Bin Ganem Al Kaabi advised motorists and visitors in the emirate to exercise caution when travelling to mountainous areas and if they go out at sea. Al Kaabi said the Fujairah police operations room can be reached at telephone number 999 in case of any emergency.
