UAE police have issued a stern warning to parents and caregivers to ensure children’s safety near balconies and windows after a child’s fatal balcony fall in Umm Al Quwain. A 10-year-old Emirati girl tragically fell to her death from the seventh-floor balcony of her family’s apartment in Umm Al Quwain last Wednesday (December 11). The girl, reportedly playing on the balcony unsupervised, slipped and fell. A relative witnessed the aftermath, calling emergency services. Despite efforts by paramedics and doctors, the girl succumbed to her injuries the following day. Umm Al Quwain Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The UAE’s Child Protection Law prohibits leaving children unattended in dangerous areas and imposes penalties on caregivers for negligence. Violators face fines ranging from Dh5,000 to Dh50,000 and prison sentences of up to 10 years. ICA/Expat Media
