Dubai policeman sued for death threats to cop who saw him drinking alcohol

  DUBAI – A policeman has been charged with verbal assault and allegedly threatening a fellow police officer last August. According to police records, the 43-year-old suspect allegedly threatened to stab the complainant, a corporal, with a knife if the complainant will tell their superiors seeing him drink alcohol. The suspect also allegedly cussed at his fellow policeman. The suspect however denied the accusations during a hearing on the case at the Dubai Court of First Instance by Presiding Judge Mohammad Jamal on Sunday. During the hearing, the prosecutors alleged that the policeman threatened the corporal. The suspect allegedly told the complainant: "I will kill you with a knife and destroy your house." The suspect denied doing so. "I did not curse him or threaten him. We had a disagreement 45 days before the incident ... I did not curse him or threaten him," the suspect said. In relating the incident, the complaint said the suspect followed him into the washroom at the police station at about 3:30 a.m. sometime last August and threatened to kill him. Because of this, the complainant called for help. A police sergeant attested that the corporal called for help in keeping the suspect at bay. "He asked me for help and told me that the suspect had threatened to kill him with a knife because he was drunk. While being questioned by the duty lieutenant, I heard the suspect telling the corporal 'I will kill you if they fire me'," the sergeant told prosecutors.
