Most popular Dubai public transport named

  DUBAI – When it comes to public transport, Dubai has plenty on offer. But which one is the most popular with the riding public? Recent data by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) showed that in 2021, taxis were the most popular mode of public transport in Dubai, closely followed by the Dubai Metro. "The Dubai Metro and taxis accounted for the biggest share in the number of riders using public transport.. with a share of 34 percent for taxis, and 33 percent for the Dubai Metro,” said Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA. Taxis lifted 154.7 million riders last year, while shared transport—which includes e-hail vehicles, and smart rental vehicles—were used by 22.9 million riders. The number of Dubai Metro riders on both the Red and Green Lines reached 151.3 million riders in 2021. Public buses in Dubai came in third in the list of most popular public transport, taking 25 percent of the total number of public transport commuters in 2021 by serving 116.3 million riders. Last year, Dubai Tram carried 5.34 million riders, while marine transport means (abras, water bus, water taxi and the ferry) lifted 10.94 million riders. Public transport in Dubai serviced a total of 461 million people in 2021, compared to 346 million riders recorded in 2021.
