Popular Jebel Jais mountain road closed

  DUBAI – The winding road up the country’s tallest mountain was closed on Thursday (December 19) as the threat of a rainstorm loomed. Police have yet to say whether the road will reopen this weekend. Jebel Jais is one of Ras Al Khaimah’s hotspots that features a scenic drive up the mountain, a viewing deck park and the longest zipline in the UAE. However, the area is also prone to floods during heavy rain, making it dangerous for travelers and adventure seekers. Meanwhile, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecast heavy rain off the coast of Ras Al Khaimah on Friday and Saturday. The NCM warned sea-goers of rough seas in the Arabian Gulf as a result of fresh northwesterly winds on Thursday.
