Victim lured by 2 Nigerian men into meeting a woman in a hotel in Oud Metha

  DUBAI – Two Nigerian men lured a Portuguese tourist to their hotel room "with the photo of a beautiful woman online" and then assaulted him last February 18. Aside from that, the defendants – aged 31 and 33 – ordered the victim to take off his clothes and they filmed him while naked. They threatened to post the footage online to force him to give his wallet. Dubai court records said after the victim arrived in Dubai, he got to chat with a woman on WhatsApp who sent him her picture and gave her location. He and the woman agreed to meet in a hotel in Oud Metha. "When I got there, a big woman with tattoos opened the door for me then two men appeared and attacked me, They stripped me naked and filmed a video of me naked," the victim said. The victim said the defendants threatened to post the video footage online if he did not hand over his wallet that had cash and credit cards. After handing over his wallet, the victim was locked in the toilet. When the men left, the victim got out of the toilet and called the police. The defendants allegedly took Dh2,500 from the victim's wallet and made purchases worth Dh7,000 using the victim's credit card. Police managed to arrest the suspects through identification papers they used in renting the hotel room. A policeman told the court that the suspects would hunt for someone to victimize through social media and use a woman's photo to lure their victim to a meetup. The defendants pleaded not guilty to charges of forcible theft, sexual assault, unlawful use of others' bank cards and assault on one's privacy with the use of technology. The court will issue a verdict on the case on May 25.
