Preventive drug Evusheld is now available for selected categories

The Department of Health - Abu Dhabi announced that Evusheld is now available for selected categories that are not yet infected with COVID-19. Evusheld is a preventive drug for those who have not been infected or recently in contact with a positive case. The department also explained that it is suitable for people with weak immune systems due to immunosuppressive health conditions or treatments or those who cannot be vaccinated due to allergic contraindications. The department also strongly emphasized that Evusheld is not, in any way, a substitute for vaccines, and the approved vaccines are still the best prevention against COVID-19. Once the drug is administered, the COVID-19 vaccine must be postponed for at least 30 days. The drug, on the other hand, should not be administered before two weeks since the vaccine has been taken.
