Prices revealed for new UAE public school uniforms

By the end of the month, all students in public schools in the UAE will have new uniforms for the start of the school year. The public school regulator, Emirates Schools Establishment, has introduced uniforms, which will be available starting on August 15. The uniforms will be on sale at 38 Lulu's Hypermarkets. It will also be available in white and dark blue colors. All public school students, from kindergarten through grade 12, including those attending the recently announced Ajyal or Generation schools, public schools administered by the private sector, are required to dress according to the uniform. The last time the public school uniform policy was altered for all students was in 2019 when the ministry of education introduced a standard line with set prices to ease the financial load on parents. For boys, the kindergarten uniform consists of a white T-shirt with a logo that costs Dh36, a pair of shorts that costs Dh34, a white sports T-shirt with a logo that costs Dh29, and either shorts or sports pants that cost Dh43. For girls in the same grade, the uniform consists of two skirt options priced at Dh29 and a white shirt with a logo still at Dh29. The price of the sports outfit includes a T-shirt for Dh29, Dh43 for the pants, and Dh32 for the shorts. For girls in Grade 9, a set with a white shirt and skirt will cost Dh101, while a set with a white shirt, blue pants, and a tie will cost Dh111 for boys in the same grade. Boys in grades 1 through 4 are required to wear a formal white shirt with a logo, a tie, and either long blue pants or shorts. The sports uniform includes a white and blue T-shirt, with white and blue trousers or shorts. The dress code for girls in grades 1 through 4 is a formal white blouse with a logo paired with either wide-leg blue culottes-style pants or a blue dress (pinafore). The sports uniform includes a white and blue T-shirt with trousers or shorts. According to the Emirates Schools Establishment, “the school uniform was changed to provide pupils with more comfort during the school day activities and to fulfill the necessary practical requirements of curricular and extra-curricular activities."
