The “purest ice on Earth” has arrived in Dubai following a 20,000km journey from the Arctic, according to a report on Tuesday (January 16). The 22-tonne glacier ice was shipped from Greenland via Denmark and has now arrived at the Natural Ice factory in Al Quoz, Dubai, according to Khaleej Times. The trip reportedly took 65 days. Arctic Ice, the company that shipped the crystal-clear ice to the UAE, said there has been “strong interest” from restaurants and hotels for the product. The company said the ice is used on drinks, food products and even beauty baths. According to Arctic Ice, glacier ice melts slower than regular ice, and it also has little to no taste. It is also free from pollution, the company claimed. Deliveries will reportedly start within a month and will stock high-end restaurants, cafes and homes of the ultra-wealth. The company did not disclose the price for its iceberg ice, but said it has been granted a “rare licence” by the Government of Greenland to export ice.

The broken ice would have otherwise naturally melted into the ocean. Each slab is manually selected and inspected, and once harvested, the ice is processed and placed in transport crates.
