Russian President Vladimir Putin has described the UAE as “one of the quite suitable places” to hold a possible meeting with US President Donald Trump. Speaking alongside UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the Kremlin on August 7, Putin said, “We have many friends who are willing to help us organise such events. One of our friends is the president of the United Arab Emirates.” The two leaders reviewed progress in UAE-Russia cooperation, especially in trade, investment, space, and energy, and discussed regional stability, including support for a two-state solution in the Middle East. Sheikh Mohamed also expressed gratitude for Russia’s role in facilitating the exchange of over 4,000 prisoners between Russia and Ukraine. During the visit, both countries signed the Trade in Services and Investment Agreement (TISIA), complementing the UAE’s Economic Partnership Agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union. Putin said he was not opposed to meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy but stressed that conditions were “far” from ready. ICA/Expat Media
