Qatar crisis: Emir calls Saudi Crown Prince in bid for talks

DUBAI - Qatar's Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani called Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on Friday in an effort to start a dialogue to resolve Qatar's issue with its neighbours, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Saturday. Saudi Arabia, however, issued a second statement on Saturday saying it is suspending any dialogue with Qatar. Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt have cut off relations with Qatar since June 5 over allegations that the country is supporting terrorist groups. The Emir's telephone call came on day 95 of the crisis, and after US President Donald Trump’s meeting with Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, which was followed by a phone call to the Emir of Qatar on Thursday. “During the call, the Emir of Qatar expressed his desire to sit at the dialogue table and discuss the demands of the four countries to ensure the interests of all,” the SPA reported. Details of the telephone call will reportedly be announced after Saudi Arabia "concludes an understanding" with the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt. Following the Saudi announcement, the White House said Trump on Friday held phone calls with the Crown Princes of Saudi Arabia and UAE, and the Emir of Qatar.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
