Qatari citizens told to leave UAE as country cuts ties with Qatar over terrorism   DUBAI – Qatari citizens in the UAE have 14 days to leave the country after the UAE, along with Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Bahrain, on Monday (June 5) announced that they were cutting ties with Qatar over its “continued support, funding and hosting of terror groups”. Qataris are now banned from passing through the UAE in all ports, while the emirates gave Qatar’s diplomatic mission in Abu Dhabi a deadline of 48 hours to leave the country. Emiratis are also banned from visiting or passing by Qatar. The Qatar-based news website Al Jazeera has also been blocked in the UAE. Meanwhile, Etihad Airways is suspending all flights to and from Doha starting at 2:45pm on Tuesday. Emirates, flydubai and Air Arabia have also announced that they are suspending all flights to and from Doha starting on June 6. The airlines said they will provide customers who have already bought tickets to Doha with alternative options, including full refunds and a free rebooking to nearby destinations. In response, Qatar Airways said it was suspending all flights to and from the UAE beginning on June 6 and would offer refunds or rebookings to alternative destinations to passengers with paid tickets. The UAE's Port of Fujairah issued a notice on Monday saying that it will not allow entry to Qatari-flagged vessels and other ships destined for or arriving from Qatari ports. The authority said that it will enforce the rule "until further notice". In a statement, the UAE said it was cutting ties with Qatar over the country’s “continued support, funding and hosting of terror groups, primarily Islamic Brotherhood, and its sustained endeavours to promote the ideologies of Daesh and Al Qaeda across its direct and indirect media”. It also said Qatar was supporting Iran and “sow seeds of sedition and discord among the region's countries”. In Saudi Arabia, the government has closed all its borders to Qatar, cutting all land, sea and air contact with the country. Saudi Arabia also said it is pulling out Qatari troops from the Saudi-led fight against militants in Yemen. In Egypt, some banks have stopped accepting Qatari currency while others are halting some treasury transactions. The government has said it was closing Egypt's air space and seaports for all Qatari transportation. The Qatari Foreign Ministry, in a statement, said it regretted the decision of the four GCC countries and claimed that the decisions would “not affect the normal lives of citizens and residents”.
