Qatar’s prized racehorse Hit Show emerged triumphant at the prestigious 2025 Dubai World Cup, securing victory in the $12 million Emirates Airline Dubai World Cup—hailed as the world’s richest horse race. The main event, held at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai on Saturday (April 5), saw Hit Show, owned by Wathnan Racing, outpace eight elite competitors to finish first with a time of 2:03:50 minutes. The five-year-old colt was ridden by jockey Florent Geroux and trained by renowned American trainer Brad Cox. The thrilling victory earned Hit Show a staggering $6.96 million prize, following a narrow 0.64-length lead over American contender Mixto, who finished second. Mixto, owned by Calumet Farm and trained by Doug O’Neill, was ridden by legendary jockey Frankie Dettori and took home $2.4 million. Japanese entry Forever Young, owned by Susumu Fujita and trained by Yoshito Yahagi, secured third place with jockey Ryusei Sakai and won $1.2 million. Saudi Arabia’s Walk of Stars, owned by Athbah Racing, finished fourth. This year’s event once again showcased the Dubai World Cup’s global prestige and drew elite horses, trainers, and jockeys from around the world. The Dubai World Cup, first held in 1996, has grown into a marquee event on the international horse racing calendar, known not only for its lucrative purse but also for its glamour, international audience, and world-class track.
