Ras Al Khaimah zipline to reopen soon after helicopter crash

DUBAI – Maintenance work is underway on the Jebel Jais zipline, which was closed after a helicopter reportedly clipped a cable and crashed into the mountainside. Zipline operator Toroverde Ras Al Khaimah said it was running a full inspection of the zipline after the December 29 helicopter crash that killed four people. Toroverde said the zipline would open "as soon as the necessary maintenance has been completed", adding that the safety of its visitors is a priority. The operator said that customers with existing bookings will be contacted for refunds or new appointments. On December 29, a search and rescue helicopter was in the area when the aircraft clipped the cable, sending the helicopter spiraling downwards to crash at 5:50pm. His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, has ordered a full investigation into the incident.
