Ramadan in UAE likely to begin in April

  DUBAI – Ramadan in UAE is likely to begin on April 2, according to an official of the Emirates Astronomical Society. Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomical Society, said Ramadan is expected to last for 30 days. Al Jarwan said that Eid Al Fitr will likely fall on May 2. The dates have yet to be confirmed by the UAE moon-sighting committee. The city of Khorfakkan in Sharjah will start fasting eight minutes ahead of Abu Dhabi, while Al Sila and Al Ghuwaifat will start fasting 12 minutes after Abu Dhabi. Dawn call for prayer will begin at 4:56am in Abu Dhabi, 4:48am in Khorfakkan and 5:08am in Al Sila and Al Ghuwaifat, Al Jarwan said.
