Rare surgery in Dubai removes football-sized tumor from woman's womb

A rare surgery in Dubai successfully removed a large uterine fibroid, likened to the size of a football, from a 54-year-old woman. The tumor had completely distorted Tatiana Sergei’s uterus, occupying the entire pelvis and a significant portion of the abdominal cavity, exerting pressure on critical organs. Sergei, who is originally from Russia but lives abroad, experienced troubling symptoms such as heavy and unpredictable bleeding, frequent urination, abdominal discomfort, and shortness of breath. When she consulted Dr. Vitali Petukhou, a gynecologist at Saudi German Hospital, was revealed that she had multiple uterine fibroids. The tumor, comprising more than 50 nodes and measuring over 30cm, caused considerable pain and adversely affected Sergei’s physical and emotional well-being. The only viable solution to alleviate her suffering was an open surgical procedure that lasted over three hours. After the surgery, Sergei’s health considerably improved, and she is now well on her way to recovery. Her husband expressed deep appreciation, stating, "We are enormously thankful to the doctor for making us free from the shackles of pain that once bound her.” He conveyed his heartfelt thanks to the doctor and the medical team for their expertise and compassionate care.
