An Arab man has been fined Dh8,000 for insulting and assaulting an Asian bird seller in Ras Al Khaimah. The incident began after the Arab man bought a parrot from the bird shop for Dh1,500. He returned the parrot after four days, claiming it was sick. However, the bird seller would not accept a full refund for the parrot, and offered to buy it for Dh1,200 or sell it at the shop. The Arab man agreed to have the parrot resold at the bird shop, but got agitated when it remained unsold for days. On his last visit, he assaulted the bird seller by pushing him against a bird cage, causing the latter to sustain some injuries. The Arab man claimed that he only “gently pushed” the bird seller. The Ras Al Khaimah Court of First Instance fined the Arab man Dh3,000 for insulting the bird seller, and gave him another Dh5,000 fine for assault. ICA/Expat Media
