The Ras Al Khaimah Criminal Court of First Instance acquitted 34 people of charges of promoting online gambling. The group is made up of Asians and Africans aged between 22 and 53. They were arrested during a raid of a villa where police also confiscated devices, including computers, mobile phones and two gambling tables. A forensic laboratory report showed that the seized devices contained data and documents indicating the practice of betting. Witnesses also testified that the group practiced gambling in the villa. Four people were charged with managing, organizing and practicing gambling. They denied the charges in court. Their lawyer argued that there was no evidence proving that the group committed the crimes, and added that the witness' testimonies were weak. The court ruled that there was insufficient evidence linking the victims to the crime, saying that investigations did not specifically identify the victims. The court also said there were no bank transfers that could have linked the victims to practicing and promoting online gambling.  ICA/Expat Media
