Ras Al Khaimah Police have arrested a hit-and-run driver within five hours after he injured three women and fled the scene in Al Jazeera Al Hamra. The accident happened at around 1:30am on Tuesday (May 12), according to Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Abdulrahman Al Samaan, director of the Traffic and Patrol Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police. Police said the operations room received reports of a collision involving three Asian women before the driver escaped. Emergency response teams were immediately dispatched to the site while a joint task force involving the Traffic and Patrol Department, Al Jazeera Al Hamra Comprehensive Police Station and the Criminal Investigations Department launched a search for the suspect. Lieutenant Colonel Al Samaan said investigators were able to identify and arrest the Asian driver within five hours. The suspect has since been referred to the competent judicial authorities for legal proceedings. Police did not release details on the victims’ medical conditions but confirmed that investigations remain ongoing. Ras Al Khaimah Police reiterated their warning to motorists that fleeing an accident scene is a serious criminal offence under UAE traffic law and urged drivers to immediately report collisions to authorities.
