Ras Al Khaimah offers 2-week 55% discount on traffic fines

  RAS AL KHAIMAH – Motorists who have incurred traffic fines in Ras Al Khaimah have a two-week window to pay the fines and get a 55 percent discount, according to the Ras Al Khaimah traffic department. The discount period will run from November 1 to November 15 to mark the ascension of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah. The discount is considered the biggest ever given in Ras Al Khaimah. It applies to all types of traffic violations, said Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ras Al Khaimah Police. Al Nuaimi said that the police force has decided to grant discounts to help reduce residents' burden. There were 219,746 motorists caught speeding on Ras Al Khaimah's roads in the first nine months of this year. Earlier this month, the Ras Al Khaimah Police launched the "Radar" initiative that entitles drivers to a 50 percent discount on radar-based fines paid within 50 days of the violation. Motorists get a 30 percent discount on radar-based fines paid between the 51st day to 80th day after the fine was issued.
