In a sweeping 10-day crackdown, Ras Al Khaimah Police has confiscated 491 unlicensed motorcycles, bicycles, and electric scooters across various roads and residential areas in the emirate. The campaign, conducted from April 22 to May 1 by the Investigation and Traffic Control Section of the Traffic and Patrols Department, aimed to improve traffic safety, reduce road fatalities, and curb the illegal use of bikes. The department stated that the seized vehicles were violating UAE traffic laws, with many of them operated without licenses or safety measures in place. “The campaign is part of the efforts of the Police General Headquarters, under the directives of Major General Ali Abdullah Bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Police, to enhance road safety and control bikes which pose a real threat to the lives and safety of their riders and other road users,” the department said in a statement. Authorities emphasized the importance of obeying traffic regulations and reminded the public that unlicensed and reckless use of bikes endangers both riders and pedestrians. The department also issued a stern warning to parents: “We urge families not to allow their children to ride bikes in non-designated areas.
